Is there a way to insert a link to the Contact Us Menu Item? I'd like to put one into the main body on our home page.

What you do is you create a custom link with a new name (e.g. Reserve a Seat) and you set the destination as your website name followed by ?contactus . That causes the custom link to open the built in contact us form.

Here is my issue after attempting this 1,000 times (So frustrating). I can not do this because it demands I put in the Web page name.
Where do I set the destination of our website so it causes the custom link to open the built in "contact us" form?

What I end up doing was simply create a new page "Reserve A Seat" and make a link it it that directed it to the Contact Us page. Then I went into the Appearance console and hid the Contact Us button. Tested this and works fine.....however, the form says "Someone will contact you shortly" so not sure if there is a way to get rid of this.

Thanks - that works for me as I am just entering the URL as a link on my page. In your case the only text you enter on your custom page would be that (your website address followed by ?contactus). That is the same as for a normal link (click the "More" command at the top of the custom page editing area for details).

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction :cheer:

Why don't you put in a custom page with appropriate text / instructions, and a link to an email address? It seems you can put in a default heading "Reserve a Seat", and default text (which the person reserving the seat should be able to edit). That way you can leave your Contact Us form as it is.

I tried that in the beginning but it automatically tried to open MS Outlook (since it's a default app) and not everyone uses Outlook.

I tried using the "more" button and thought I could tell it to point to the "Contact Us" menu but that didn't even seem to be an option. I've banged my head against the wall a million times on this and just can't do it anymore. I have it working well enough for now. So when a person clicks on the "Reserve A Seat" it will give simply instructions to click on the link that directs them to the hidden "Contact Us' form and they submit it. (The only issue with that is, this form says "someone will contact you shortly" and I would rather not have that BUT......the bruises on my head hurt enough to try to figure this out. (Never thought I would miss WordPress)
thanks for listening,
Jeffrey

It only opens Outlook on your computer because that is what is set as the default email client on your computer. On someone else's computer, a mailto link may open a different email app (if a different one set) or show an error (if no email client is set). This is not the fault of FTH, this is how the internet and browsers are designed. Some non-internet explorer browsers handle the mailto links better.

mailto links have always been a kludgy proposition wherever they are used. (fth or other)

I may implement a way to workaround the default flawed mailto behavior defined by your browser in the future.
