I've sent out our next meeting agenda to all members, and in the message that went with it I included a smiley from the range available in the template.

However members aren't seeing the smiley, just a blank placeholder - see attached pic for an example.

Looking at the html of the e-mail, it is calling <img alt=3D"smiley" height=3D"23" src=3D"/js/ckeditor_smileys/regular_smile.png" =
title=3D"smiley" width=3D"23"> for the smiley - that looks like it might be missing some location info.

Is there anything we need to do to make this work correctly?

Cheers,

Gavin

You need to use the full address of the smile add the website url, you only used the relative address.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for that.

I inserted the smiley by selecting it from the drop down in the CKeditor ("Insert a smiley"). This functionality was "out of the box" with the website, it is not something I have added.

What changes do I need to make in the config of our website (or elsewhere) for this to insert the full address?

Cheers,

Gavin

You have to manually change the source after you insert the smiley.

Thanks, I will do that in future.

It would be good if this requirement could be made more obvious to users. The CKEdit interface looks like it is wysiwyg, I 'm sure not many users would know to go into the source and hand edit it when they can already see the smiley in front of them as they create the message.

Most people would not use smileys in an email.

Thanks.

If it is the case that you don't expect people to use these then can that part of the editor be disabled?

That would save embarrassment when it doesn't work as expected.

The full path (via the {{WEBURL}} field) is now being patched in to the CKEditor config setting "smiley_path" to allow for use in emails. (just changed it)
