When I try to log in, I push the log-in/authenticate button and then nothing happens. Some members of the club do not have this issue while others have this issue.

I just tested with IE8 on win xp and it worked correctly, it did take a few seconds to respond but it did work.

Check your email for the authorization email.

I am still having an issue, and now I am hearing reports from the rest of my team that they are also having issues. Most of us work from the same location. I will check at home to see if it is a firewall issue. But what could be causing this?

You need to ask your IT group .....

If you are using from work are your installs of Internet Explorer 8 up to latest patch levels and is your java up to date?

Does your company allow Java scripts to be run in IE8?

Does your company use any desktop security software that would prevent Java scripts?

In addition to Brian's excellent insights, consider the following...

When you attempt to log in, your login information is sent to the server for validation/verification.

Thus, there is an intentional data transfer happening with the server at that point. The server code is the judge of who gets logged in. Your firewall must allow for that data transfer with the FTH server located on the toastmastersclubs.org domain. No data transfer = no login.

You should request your corporate IT department to whitelist (for email) and set a firewall exception for toastmastersclubs.org

Otherwise, you will need to use the website from a non-company computer.

I'm wondering which parts of the site require Java to be up to date? I've seen a few weird things happening, but not repeatable enough to report – something like out-of-date Java might be the problem.
