Howdy,
I have uploaded a set of PDF files to the Member Downloads section via the file manager. All files uploaded show a generic document icon on the left; only those files which were there originally have an icon which identifies the file type as PDF. I was going to take a screen shot, but the first image on your support/doc page at support.toastmastersclubs.org/component/zoo/item/downloading shows the same symptoms. Curious I am.
I tried changing the file's protection state because, coincidently, the 2 original files were public while the ones I uploaded were Members Only, but that didn't (I'm glad) change anything. Something other than file extension? Looking at the HTML source below I see that the image file blank.png is chosen for my file ACFORM.PDF while pdf.png is chosen for the original file.

<tr><td valign=top ><a href="ACFORM.PDF" class="download" title="ACFORM.PDF"><img src="/images/icons/blank.png" border=0 title="ACFORM.PDF"></a></td><td valign=top ><a href="ACFORM.PDF" class="download" title="ACFORM.PDF">Ah Counter's Log and instructions</a></td><td align=right >22 KB</td></tr>
<tr><td valign=top ><a href="VBP005_Discover_Confidence_VBP_FFE.pdf" class="download" title="VBP005_Discover_Confidence_VBP_FFE.pdf"><img src="/images/icons/pdf.png" border=0 title="VBP005_Discover_Confidence_VBP_FFE.pdf"></a></td><td valign=top ><a href="VBP005_Discover_Confidence_VBP_FFE.pdf" class="download" title="VBP005_Discover_Confidence_VBP_FFE.pdf">Discover Confidence (Brochure)</a></td><td align=right >1 MB</td></tr>

What sets/chooses the .PNG file? I would think that during the upload, the extension of the file would do so, but it seems that that is not the case. Please advise.

I must be a code issue that Steve will address, because when I downloaded your Ah Counter and then uploaded to my club, it showed the PDF icon until I refreshed my screen when it went to a blank icon.

Double check your names, as I may have inadvertently changed it on your site. I don't believe I deleted anything from your site.

I would believe that the code that handles file uploading to the server makes the image file assignment based on the file's extension. I've not tried other than PDF but will play with this to see what else is in the icon library, if anything (or you beat me to that with a reply). I can say that the files in question were Word documents which were converted to PDF via CutePDF printer driver. I wouldn't think your code would look inside a file, but...

Update: I used OpenOffice Writer to export the files to PDF format rather than going through the CutePDF printer driver on my W98 box and the .PNG file is properly set to PDF. As an engineer, I'd still like to know how the icon is assigned in the code, but at least I have a remedy.

Since you are running on win98 i would say your cutepdf is not attaching the correct pdf header in the record. You may want to update your cutepdf.
