:unsure:

Our club URL is currently 4014156.toastmastersclubs.org/. When Northfield Community Toastmasters is googled, we get our Meet-Up site (which is temporary), an article about us which appeared in a local paper, and an posting by the website organizer. We don't get a direct link to the website itself. Is there a way to change our URL so the club website can be located directly?

Ruth,

This document will help you with google ranking: support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/google-ranking

Modify your keywords to be more concise and use them in every custom page as well.

One of the problems with an unchartered club is that it is not yet listed on Find A Club at Toastmasters International, so that "hit" is not available.

Hi, Roger;

I am the website administrator presently for the Northfield Club and the Golden Toasters Club at the University of Minnesota. Ruth who initiated this discussion a while back is a member and leader in both clubs. I don't think this problem is a keyword issue. Because when I "Google" Golden Toasters the FTH website pops up but when I "Google" Northfield Toastmasters the Northfield toastmasters site does not show up. I believe that when setting up both sites there was a difference. In one case it would let the name selected override the club number because it is a recognized chartered club at TI but in the other case because Northfield is unchartered it does not allow this override of name over number. Can we change that?

Here are the URL differences:
4014156.toastmastersclubs.org/
goldentoasters.toastmastersclubs.org/

If the club is not chartered there is no way for google to find the site from the toastmasters.org find a club, so you have to add the site to your districts club and site listing. Then go direct to google webmaster tools and go through the procedure to get google the spider the site.

You can add an alias to the cub site at any time, has nothing do do with being chartered.
Just follow the directions in the documentation on this site.

Not completely sure I understand what you are saying to me. Is it that I ask the district to add our website as it lists with the number first? Then I go into Google and have it spider the site? (What exactly does that mean?)

Thanks for your assistance.

You can ask your district to add it to your site using the number or the alias your choice.

You have to use the Google webmaster tools to get google to spider your site basic instruction are in our documentation but the complete instructions are on google's site because they change them quite often.
