Hi there,

I'm currently trying to upload a sitemap of our club website and to verify it through google webmaster. I found instructions on how to do this online, and managed to upload sitemap files in html and xml through the File Manager of our admin site.

However, when I try to test the sitemaps in google webmaster, I get the following error message:
We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.

General HTTP error: 404 not found
HTTP Error: 404

Our club website URL is www.metrohalltoastmasters.org. But when I type, www.metrohalltoastmasters.org/sitemap.xml, it just redirects me to our landing page. So there seems to be a problem with the sitemaps I uploaded...

If you have any suggestions of how to tackle this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much in advance for your help,

Christoph Straub

You cannot load a site map.

You have to use the meta tag method of verifying your site.

See the doc on how to do this.
