Club 3692031

We had some members added to the club website, but without email addresses. Today I attempted to add the email addresses, but got a message that profile updates were blocked by the user who had never logged on before.

I was able to logon as the user with the admin ID. It looks like "blocked to admin" is the default setting. This means if we add a user then we cannot go back and add missing information as admin. It also means the user can never login because the email is not present for them to get the link to add their password.

Nope, blocked to admin is *not* the default setting.

Give me some specifics... names (can be first and initial or whatever) etc. that I can lookup.

OK,

Look on club 1976054. There was a "member" setup called Lucky Draw. Because no email was entered it has the noemail address added. No login has ever occured. It is blocked to admin.

Since this user was already on file I decided to add a new one. Added user is Eagle Lee. He has an email address. I then attempted to edit and got the blocked by user message.
Last edit: by allandpage. Reason: spelling

Steve - I have the same problem with member Colin (Club 5836).

Possible clue (or red herring) - he is our latest member (last on the database?)

Ok, this should be fixed now. Sorry for any inconvenience. This was actually a symptom of a bigger issue--this was very important to get resolved quickly. Thank you *very much* for reporting it.

If you could try adding another new member and confirm that the default is admin edits allowed, that would be great.

That's great Steve. I tried it several ways around and it works fine now. I also went and viewed the profile of some other users and they also permit admin edit.

The new layout was a bit of a shock at first, but after a few minutes I could see the new features and I think it's great. I really appreciate things such as being able to move multiple people from member to former member and other features like that. It's a real time saver.

I also discovered the new item to send a note to new members. That's a great idea, but in looking at that (and even reply to this note) I came across a new version of an old problem. Today I could not access my club website using the VPN, but was unable to access FreeToastHost support without the VPN. Most of our club members do not have VPN so they would have the ability to access your site blocked. Here are my ip addresses:
Without VPN - 112.117.27.101
With VPN - 173.254.227.148

We continue to get attacked by IP addresses from China. Until your ISP and government start taking action against hackers and people abusing our servers we will continue to block the IP ranges that attack the server.

I expected it to be a shock for people, at first. That is why I kept the OLD Membership Management tab as a transition step.

The new table approach is intended to give users a tool that I can add a lot more functionality and features to. I expected some early shock (people tend to want to avoid change), but I am hoping that when users start working with all the new features and functionality, they will see the value of the approach.

We may be doing some other changes that could be a shock in the future, but I will always strive to provide some sort of transition to ease people into it.

Thus, OLD Membership Management is going away, but not immediately.
