RE: d16.toastmastersdistricts.org/Winners_of_the_Smedley_Award.html

The top cell is two merged cells. When I try to color the background the cell re-splits and only half of the background is colored.
I tried reloading the page from the link at the bottom of the home page and deleting the cache, but still have the same issue.

Still loving the new version even with its bugs!

What Browser and version are you using.

Yes, until I try to change the background color. Then the cell splits and only half gets changed.....it also moves all text into half the cell.

I'm using FireFox and Windows 7.

Insert a table inside the combined and colour the new table background.

You can always change the html source if the editor does do it exactly as you want.

Oh, that's a clever idea. I'll give it a try.

Seems more serious than that. Anytime I try to change the cell properties, such as the background color or alignment, the contents of the cell gets distorted or disappear. ( I've learned the watch carefully so I can "backup")

In the style box for the table, append a background-color setting as the default for the entire table, then override on specific cells. That way, you do not have to set a color for each and every cell. That is how I do tables... always set a default on the entire table first.

e.g. background-color: red; in the table style block. (same place as table-layout: fixed)
