Is there a new solution for embedding a slide show in the new version of FTH?
I hope, I hope.

You just use a Flickr widget or an animated GIF... You have always been able to do that.

See here: www.flickrslideshow.com/

You need to copy/paste the resulting iframe code into source view of the editor. Some tweaking of the iframe code may be necessary, so give us a shout if it does not work quite right.

I did embed a slide show, but it would not loop like a wanted. It will repeat by hitting the title in the lower left corner, but if you hit the large arrow (which would be instinctive) it takes you to the Picasa page. We are wanting it to play continuously.

Ok, look here: productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/sites/xfbqIjDuEAo

Basically, use a different widget for this that properly allows for the looping... I would recommend an iframe based widget so you do not force your users to have flash loaded like your current implementation does.

Also, pay attention to the transparency setting. It is important to prevent the iframe/flash from overlaying login dialogs. Open the login dialog from your current page and you will see what I mean. The transparency setting prevents that issue.

After days and hours of searching.......

Actually, it was the District Governor that found this program.
Cincopa is easy, straight forward, and FTH compatible.

www.cincopa.com/

It is necessary to use the second "code" provided, but it is 95% what we were looking for.
This may be of help to others, especially the folks like me that are learning to program as they go.

Care to share which page you have implemented it on so that we can see a finished implementation?

Ok, never mind... I just found it on the home page. Very nice!!! It fits in very well with the home page.

All the great stuff you have done with the system never ceases to amaze and impress me. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Oh, sure! I should have thought of that.

Top right of page.
I'm still trying to figure out how to put a border around the area where the slides show up, but it's not bad the way it is.

There is a frameborder attribute for iframes, but it is no longer supported for HTML5.

What I would suggest is just put the iframe inside a div. You can easily put a border on the div with border styling attributes. Just put the following in the style box for the div: border:1px solid black; (You can change this to your liking.)

So, select the iframe, then select the div icon from the toolbar and it should put the iframe inside a div (I have not tested).

Then if you click the button to show divs and blocks so you can pick the div, you should be able to put the border style attribute on it.

I couldn't get the div box to line up with the iframe box (it did on 3 sides, but not the 4th). Happen to notice a check box on the iframe properties to show the border, so I checked it and the slideshow has a border. Can I add something in the "style" box to change the weight and color of the border? I'm experimenting with it now.

Mary,

FYI... I just noticed that your Contact Us link is using d16.toastmastersclubs.org?contactus instead of d16.toastmastersdistricts.org?contactus

While the clubs version will (and does) work, I set up the server code to cause a new browser tab to get opened with a new copy of a club/district website if the domain name referenced in the link is different than the current website's domain name. Normally, this is desirable. However, in this case, it makes the website visitor wait a bit to pull up the same website with the contact us form displayed.

If you change the link to go to http://d16.toastmastersdistricts.org?contactus I think you will likely notice that the contact us form is displayed sooner since a new tab is not created in the browser. This means that the website visitor will not have to wait as long to see the form.
