I'm new to this, but I'm hoping someone can help me with these two things. Club #595823
website: vmctc.toastmastersclubs.org/

1) We're trying to improve the club's search results in Google. In the below post from a year ago, it was suggested that the user submit a sitemap. Are there instructions on how to submit a sitemap for freetoasthost?
support.toastmastersclubs.org/5-support-...issue-sitewide#50083

2) Also, I have the same issue as the user in the above topic. When I search "toastmasters bradenton" our website does not show in the search results unless I go to the last page and click "repeat the search with the omitted results included". Then it shows on the first page. In Google Webmaster tools a blank page shows under "Render" and I have a warning for Disallow: /js/ under robots.txt.. For the user above, Disallow: /js/ was removed from the robots.txt page. How can I do this as well?

Thank you for your assistance!

You can probably use something like: www.xml-sitemaps.com/ to get a sitemap.

I may add a link to make FTH do this in the future, but nothing in the system for that right now.

SEO is as much of an art as anything. Just because you want to get to the top of the list does not mean you do... you and everyone else wants that. ;) With that said, you need to make sure what are likely search keywords are in your site keywords and in your home page. Also get a link to your website listed somewhere else, like on Facebook and other places.

Disallow: /js/ was removed from the robots.txt page. How can I do this as well?

We control that, you do not.

Jen, sitemap is not a significant issue. However, you can improve your Google search rankings results in various ways.

I just did a search (from California :-) on toastmasters bradenton and I thought your club did very well, since you got positions
2, 3, 4, 6 and 8.

To get even better results, add a Google My Business page (requires verification), and be sure to set up a Yelp account, and get several positive Yelp reviews - Google loves reviews.

Also, brainstorm with your club members to come up with more websites where you can add a link back to the club. How about if every member added a URL in their LinkedIn profile?

Look at all the popular social media platforms and see if some member who is familar with each will add links/profiles.

Thank you, George! I will talk to the club about these ideas. The Google My Business page sounds like a great idea - I think that could really help.

It's been fun learning these website tips, I appreciate your feedback :)

Hi FreeToastHost Developers,

I am a member of Minatomirai Toastmasters Club #1012628.
minatomiraitmc.toastmastersclubs.org

I think that lack of sitemap.xml is a significant issue. I have seen a disadvantage due to lack of sitemap.xml since I added some custom pages on our website. It takes much more time to have new pages indexed by Google without sitemap.xml.

I have run some other websites and my personal blogs. All of them have each sitemap.xml which has successfully worked to have new pages indexed by Google so quickly.

Sending sitemap.xml to Google is really that easy. I don't know any better and easier way than sitemap.xml.

I would really appreciate it if the FreeToastHost Developers could address this issue.

As there are no "pages" in a FTH site and the site is not a multi leveled, a site map has no meaning.

Thank you for your comment. But I am talking about "sitemap.xml" not just a "sitemap". My understanding is that there is the difference between them.

1. sitemap.xml is a tool to notify the search engines like Google and Bing of the website update and modification. It is used not for people but for machines.

2. A sitemap is just a list of pages on the website. It is something like a table of content for people to see.

I agree with you that a sitemap is meaningless. But I still believe sitemap.xml is a significant tool to notify Google of the website update.

1) sitemap.xml is a file that has to be placed in the root of the site and there are no files in the root the FTH

2) since there are no pages the sitemap.xml would only have one entry.

Thank you for your comments again. I understand there are no STATIC pages on FreeToastHost (FTH) and sitemap.xml can be created dynamically on demand.

Content Management Systems (CMS) like Wordpress, Joomla! and other blog services have no STATIC sitemap.xml. Every CMS creates sitemap.xml from ALL visible pages (regardless the directories) on the website dynamically on demand.

My understanding is that FTH is one of the CMSs. So I expect our FreeToastHost could do the same thing as other CMSs do. I have run some websites and personal blogs with several CMSs for many years. If there were no sitemap.xml on each website, how could newly created pages be indexed by Google so soon?

I believe that there are no better and easier ways to notify Google of the website update than sitemap.xml.

Or otherwise could you give me any advice to notify Google of the update on FTH better and easier than sitemap.xml?

There are NO pages in FTH, there place to store a sitemap.xml to reference, there are no subdirectories with content.

Your concept of a site has no meaning with FTH.

Thank you again. But I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by "NO pages". FTH actually has the feature to create web pages on it. Your club website has several pages actually as below.

www.catval.com/TableTopicsProcedure.html
www.catval.com/ToastmasterMeetingRoles.html
www.catval.com/Toastmasters_Education_Path.html
www.catval.com/useful_links.html

All I want to know is how those pages could be indexed by Google. I would be grateful for an advice for that issue.

I apologize for my rudeness in my previous inappropriate comments. I felt that I was given flippant comments by you from my misinterpretation. I was ashamed of myself for the behavior as a Toastmaster. I have modified my previous comments in a Toastmasters manner.
