Hello,

I have been trying to migrate our website to a new domain for about a week now. I setup our GoDaddy domain registration as described and it appears that everything is configured properly. Here are is the DNS lookup:
OLD:
www.viewdns.info/dnsrecord/?domain=www.b...onaltoastmasters.org

NEW:
www.viewdns.info/dnsrecord/?domain=busin...onaltoastmasters.org

However, every time I change the "Custom Website Domain" it doesn't pull up our site, just the generic FreeToastHost. I get the following error:

You have errors in your form below. Please scroll down and correct the following:
Basic Settings Tab - This domain is not yet pointing to the IP address 50.19.253.65. In your domain registrar's DNS area, modify the exisitng "A" and "MX" records for this domain, to point to 50.19.253.65, wait the amount of time as specified by your domain host, then try again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Best,

-Mitch Olinsky

Mitch,

When I use: www.businessandprofesssionaltoastmasters.org , I am taken to the correct website.

Did you make any changes between submitting this question and now?

Missing an A record for mail:

A mail.businessandprofesssionaltoastmasters.org 50.19.253.65

This routes email using your domain to our server.

You need to add the A record or cname for WWW to get the connection. once it is setup you can use just the domain if you prefer

I followed the GoDaddy guide as best as I could and it appears to match what the guide specified which includes:
  1. A-Record for the domain
  2. A-Record for Mail
  3. MX-Record for Mail

See the attached screenshot.

Do I need to add records for the old site in the DNS of the new site? Any other ideas?

Ok, have you tested your email w/ the domain? Simplest way is to just send an email to an officer alias (e.g., your officer alias).

It looks ok to me based on your post, but GoDaddy keeps changing their website around, so I cannot be sure if our user doc for them is current or not, so I always advise testing.

The online tools I use still do not show the A record for mail... could just be a propagation delay. That is why I am asking if you have tested the email.

Ok, you had an extra s in the domain name in the admin console. I just fixed that for you.

www.businessandprofessionaltoastmasters.org works for me now. However, without the www in a new browser tab it is still not working for me. I think you need to make sure you have A records defined for both the www version and the non-www version.

I see that!
Actually, the extra S was the reason why I was changing the domain. But I think the issue was resolved by putting the domain with www. before the domain. Is that required or is something about my DNS not working without the www?

Actually, it appears to be working with either address. Hmm...
I guess that's fine.

Thank you for your help.
