Hello,

I recently took over as the VPPR, and have website responsibility.

For some time, our members email list has not worked. If I send an email to the members email address (members @ summittoastmasters.com), it goes to some members, but not all. More importantly, it goes to a bunch of former members. I spent quite a bit of time tonight checking the settings, and I see the former members list, but the settings say to send email to the current members.

Similarly, I setup the officer emails tonight, yet those appear to be only working partially. For example, I sent an email to the officers email alias, and asked all of the officers to reply when they received it. I heard back only from our VPM. I did not receive the email myself, nor did the VPE, who is here with me.

Note: When I click on the email list in the agenda to send out the agenda, that DOES go to the current members. It's only when I try to email to our members email alias from an email client that the email goes to some older list.

Any thoughts on where I can look to troubleshoot these issues. The club has lost confidence in the site due to these issues.

I suspect that your custom domain settings are wrong. viewdns.info/dnsrecord/?domain=www.summittoastmasters.com

Please review the required settings in our documentation support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/dns-settings-overview

You'll need to correct those or ask your provider to do that for you.

Hello,

I finally put a Sunday afternoon aside to make these changes, and I have done so. I setup the 3 A records and the MX record.

Now my website is down. There is no response to SummitToastmasters.com.

In 2.1, it tells me to go to the FreeToastHost admin console. Is this the console on my site, or on the main FreeToastHost site? If it's on my site, I can't reach it?

Perhaps it's just a matter of waiting. I have checked the records numerous times. Any thoughts?

Here are my DNS entries

viewdns.info/dnsrecord/?domain=www.summittoastmasters.com

I see the MX record, but not the A records.

I do not see the A records being broadcast from the registrar DNS.

You need to contact your registrar support to find out what is happening.

Yes, I noticed that too. The MX record showed up almost immediately, but not the A records. Odd.

Brian,

When I add the A records to my DNS entry, should I turn off domain forwarding? This would be appear to be taken care of by the A records.

Currently, we have mydiscountdomains forwarding to 1781.toastmastersclubs.org.

You cannot have dns zone and domain forwarding active the same time.

You need to remove domain forwarding.

Kevin,

As Brian notes you cannot do the forwarding... it will interfere with the proper handling of your custom domain.

Also, note that even before you have your custom domain set up (and afterwards), you will still be able to access your website via the nnnnn.toastmastersclubs.org method, where nnnnn is your club number or a website alias.

The point is that when you create a custom domain access method, you are actually adding a new alternative method of accessing your website, in *addition* to the existing methods. This is important in case your club has trouble with the custom domain or if your club forgets to renew it with your registrar.

I always recommend that the old club number method be what is inserted in Find A Club and other external references to your website, in case your club forgets to renew the custom domain. Basically, just use the custom domain for the convenience of your members.

Ok, Brian, Thanks.

Domain Forwarding is off now and, with the help of support at mydiscountdomains.com, the A records are in place. We're back up!

Now to see if this resolves the email issues we've been having, where email to the members are going to former members, and not going to many new members.
