Do you happen to know the answer to this? I have an Area Director who is demanding login access to our club website. My thought is that he is not a member of our club and therefore, like any other outsider, should not have access. He attempts to justify his thinking by telling me that other clubs in our area have giving him access to their sites.

You thoughts?

Hi Chuck!

Even though we don't need your club number to discuss this, I'm going to add the request because it reminds others to always include their number. (In lots of cases, it really speeds things up. Here... not so much...)

Your situation is an unusual one; I've never heard of it before, though my experiences aren't all-inclusive. If it's truly a demand on your area director's part, then asking a few questions is reasonable. You might want to pass the request up to your district leadership and ask if this is a new policy. It's possible that they might want to discuss things with your area director.

I probably don't have to tell you step carefully here. Getting the area director mad at you is rarely going to show any benefits, even if it's the director's problem.

Take care...

Wes B.

Area Directors have no right to anything at your club. They are a liaison between the club and the district, they have no power in or over a club. They can demand nothing. In fact they have to be invited to attend a meeting of the club.

You should report the heavy handed Area Director to the Division Director and to the District Director.

Thank you,

Hi

Some of the clubs I belong to add the Area Director to the email list as a courtesy. They can then set a password and see everything that is available to members if they wish. This is particularly useful for clubs with no-fixed abode and variable meeting times/dates as then the AD gets kept up to date as messages get sent to members.

I wouldn't be giving site admin access to the AD though.

I too would take a dim view of any Area Director "demanding" anything.
