Hi,

We have two officer positions in our club that aren't listed under Membership Management when I attempt to allocate the following Roles to newly elected officers: Web Master and Program Scheduler. (That's how we've learned to divide the workflow in our not-too-small club.)

If possible, how can I add to the list of available roles so that we can honor everyone for their efforts? Otherwise, I'd suggest that clubs be given that ability in Free ToastHost.

They gave me the label Web Master, which I think is a grandiose title for someone who does almost nothing, and I really should be called something like Website Maintainer.. Some of our members don't understand that the site has been structured in a way that it's mostly self-running. However, I do get to bother you with these emails on behalf of the club. ;)

Thanks,

Those are not official officer titles. You can use the role of "Other Officer" to include them in the officers mailing list.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your quick response. Before posting my request, I had understood that these were not "official" titles and had, exactly as you say, been using "Other Officer" as a title for two years.

However, can't we have a little flexibility here? Can't we have the ability to add officer titles by a club that can make good use of them to reward its own officers' contributions in this inexpensive, symbolic way? I would not object if our added titles were labeled "unofficial" when listed on the web or in documents, but please let's bend over backwards to help people if it doesn't hurt anyone.

Even on the stationery of corporate and nonprofit organizations in the U.S., where legalities are paramount, I think I've seen honorary or "Emeritus" positions.

Thanks for thinking with me.

Best,

We are flexible we added the "Other Officer" designation to handle the multitude of non official Officer titles. There is over 11,000 clubs using FTH and most of them have some other officer they would like. We are not going to add them all. We support the 7 official Officers and everything else with Other.

Here is a bit of a workaround option: If you add an underscore before the member's name, that name will move to the top of the list of members after the officers in Membership Management & Meet Our Members. The underscore won't show. You could build the officer name into the member name, e.g. Joe Bloggs_WebMaster, CC (add an underscore between the last name and the pseudo officer title).

Downfalls of doing this:
Someone will have to update the name every time a role is changed
alphabetical ordering of reports will be affected

You can choose whether or not these members are included in officer email by assigning "Other Officer" to them

You can also create custom email addresses for these "officers"

I was thinking of OUR adding a title or two, and then have it be effective ONLY on our own site. Is that so hard to accomplish?

Thanks,

There is only one site FTH, all the clubs are subsets of that site.

We never change the FTH system to accommodate a single club.

Hi Pam,

Thanks ever so much for presenting a workaround for this minor quandry of mine.

However, I was looking for a simpler, more straightforward approach, something transparently offered as a server feature.

Best,
