8201 -- Paolo

This morning, I accidentally entered Paolo on the Quick Add page, even though he was already listed as a Guest.

I received an error message to that effect. When I went to the Guest list, I find him there, but his entry is crossed out, and I can not do anything with it, either to move him to Members, or re-add him, or anything.

Help?

Thanks,
Brian

All people added to the website must opt-in by clicking the link in the email the system sent them when you added the person to the guest list. Using the pull down on the membership page you can resend the opt-in email

You can also delete the person from the Guest list and then re-add them to the Members list. However, even if you do that, they will still need to opt-in. They have to opt-in somewhere--you cannot get around that.

I'm sorry Brian.

I guess that I wasn't clear that I could do nothing with his guest record. I had "strikeout" through all of the fields, and the "follow-up" button was disabled.

However, our President went in a little later, we hadn't talked, and she apparently was able to transfer him from Guest to Member without any problems. I seemed to be locked out of any further editing of his record, even though I am VP-M.

Oh, well. It's fixed now.

No... what Brian was referring to was the Re-send Opt-in function on the Membership Tools pull-down menu. That is still active for inactive members... It is there so that you can follow-up and resent the links to members that have not yet opted in. It works... I know--I designed/implemented it that way.

OK. I didn't seem to be able to do anything on that menu, but I likely did not try that one option.

I gather that the strikethrough indicates that the guest has not replied to the opt-in?

That is correct. Essentially with the new privacy regulations that are prevailing, anyone added to the website has to approve the addition of their information via clicking the approval link in the opt-in email that the system sends to them when they are added. Their information is unusable until they opt-in. However, we realize sometimes people may lose the link, hence the need for the re-send opt-in function.
