Hello again,

I wondered if you have a best practice solution for displaying a PDF in the main window. Sometimes our club publishes a newsletter and it makes a great home page attention grabber, however the method I used in the past makes the PDF appear over the login window, which is NOT desirable from anyone's perspective.

I have used code as follows before, causing this issue:

<p>Click <a href="www.huntingdonshirespeakers.co.uk/jdownl...eakers_Aug_2017_.pdf" target="_blank">here if you would prefer to open the newsletter in a new window.

<p><embed height="1000" src="www.huntingdonshirespeakers.co.uk/jdownl...eakers_Aug_2017_.pdf" type="application/pdf" width="660">

You can not do that on FTH. We only allow downloading of PDF. If you want to see it on your home page make it I to an image.

Thanks for the response, Brian. I prefer to use a PDF as a PDF so that the text is searchable by Google as it helps to boost ratings when people are searching for related topics. It's a shame there isn't a better solution however I am grateful for your prompt response. :-)

Try adding wmode="transparent" to the embed options... it "might" work.

However, PDF viewing support is not consistent across browsers. Since FTH does not provide an embedded PDF viewer, then you are relying on the browser for the viewer. Just because you see it with your browser does not mean others will see it with theirs.
