I'm having the same problem with Mission Toastmasters, club 296. I recently changed settings. Now when I enter 296.toastmastersclubs.org, it redirects to the welcome page. I've cleared my cache, tried it from Chrome and Firefox, and it still refuses to direct to my site. I would appreciate any help.

Why was it deleted!? I was in the middle of rebuilding it. I'm a Division Director and I'm trying to resurrect a club that's about to go dark. Not only is it deleted, but your system won't let me reclaim it. Is it possible to undelete it?

As a Division Director you have no say over a clubs website. Only members of the club have the right to determine its status.

I am also a member and officer of the club. That's how I was able to access and edit it in the first place.

Mike is not an officer and not authorized to remove the site. He was, however, responsible for the demise of the current club and seems determined to see it shut down. Why does he have more authority than me when he is trying to destroy the club and I am trying to resurrect it?

What steps would that entail? Mike is uncooperative. Would I need to convince you that a quorum of officers was in favor of saving the club? How would I convey that message to you? What's the harm in reactivating the site?

Seems you and Mike need to have a discussion, If you both agree the site needs to be reinstated we will put in the effort.

I'm curious how Mike, with no authority, convinced you to kill a site. If Mike won't cooperate, will it ever be possible to restart the site, even from scratch, or is it permanently dead without his approval?

peterb323:

I recently changed our functionality for deleting websites. When a website is deleted, the information is retained in our database for up to 90 days in a hidden state to allow for the possibility of someone changing their minds. After that, the system code permanently deletes the information.

However, you and your club members need to sort out whether or not the website stays deleted. Please do not embroil us in your club dramas. Unless you can convince us that you have alignment to keep the website, it will stay deleted until the "clock runs out".

We may create a delete request / approval mechanism in the future similar to the way that the admin change form works, but right now, it is what it is. Do not go down the path of chastising us for an issue that clearly resides in your club--we will not tolerate that.

Dear Steve,

Thank you for your response and please accept my apologies for the drama. FreeToastHost is a powerful tool and I greatly appreciate how well it facilitates club administration and serves as an attractive public-facing site. And the price can't be beat!

I am encouraged that the site is recoverable. I only joined this club recently to try to save it from fatal collapse. I have until the Sept. 30 dues deadline to reconstitute the club before it's finished for good. But I do have some prospects, which is why I was dismayed by the sudden loss of the site.

If I manage to pull it off, I'll do my best to send you convincing evidence that the club is intact and see if we can resurrect FreeToastHost as our full-service web solution.

Best regards,

Peter Baumgarten

Thanks very much. Your prodding yesterday did in fact spur me to reengage with club 296 and Mike and the result was very positive. I appreciate your assistance.
