I was entering new guests in the website membership management section when an alert popped up about the opt-in e-mails each would receive before they became active. I continued entering new names -- in the Guest list -- when we started getting phone calls asking why they were getting e-mails welcoming them as new members. I double-checked everything at my end and all settings were correct.

I'm using the Safari browser running in El Capitan (v10.11.6) on an iMac. The problem began today, but we had not entered any new guests for some time, so I don't know when it actually started -- probably with the update that included the opt-in e-mails.

We have suspended new guest entries until this is resolved, so a quick response would be appreciated.

*Any* addition of personal information to Membership Management requires an opt-in. You *cannot* just add people without their consent, given prevailing data privacy regulations.

The opt-in email sent to non-members is similar to that sent for new members, but is *not* the same. The opt-in email sent to non-members should not say that they are added as a member. If you feel that I am mistaken, then I would request that you post the text of the email received here for us to look at.
