I'm Hal Huntley with SRI Organon Toastmasters and I do the email parts for our club. I have created a group that includes officers and other members who are greatly involved with our club business.

I wanted to update our list. I log in as a club admin launch the admin console. I select 'Membership Management' and select the people in our club who are officers and deselect those who used to be officers for this list. I click on the Save button. I get the "Success! information updated" but when I go back to check the list again -- nothing has changed. My modifications are not there.

I respectfully request either information on what I am doing wrong, or please fix the bug.

Regards,
Hal Huntely

I left out the step where I select the group I want to modify. That may be obvious, but just want to be clear.

You have not provided your club number... we need that.

Are you creating the group via the Custom Groups Tab or via the command on the drop-down menu?

Thanks for the reply.

Sorry -- we are club number 1435 - SRI Organon Toastmasters Club.

Last year I set up a group called "sriol" that selectes its group members from all the members of the club -- and I chose the current officers plus those who are very involved with the club work, but may not be an officer. I originally set the group up under the Custom Groups Tab, and then modified which members were in it by Members tab -> Select Group (choosing sriol) and then selecting the members to be in the group by checking or unchecking the box next to their name. Clicking the save button indicates 'success', but going back all the same members have the check next to their Those that I unchecked are still checked, those that I checked were still unchecked after the save.

Regards,
Hal

Just checking to see if this just got dropped by the wayside or if I didn't explain things clearly enough.

Thanks for the reply. I'll wait. I'm not sure how many others use that feature... maybe none?

It works, I think you're missing a step Hal. Any time you check multiple boxes in Membership Management, you're selecting members for an action available in the "Membership Tools" dropdown near the top of the screen.
In this case you should choose "Create Custom Group" which will create a new group, or update an existing group.
Steve - is it possible to rename the function to "Save Custom Group" rather than "Create Custom Group"

Thank you for that information. I see where I went wrong. I was on the members tab and it looked like I could make my changes in that tab -- in fact when I tried making changes, it told me my changes were a success thus I thought it was an ok way to make the list edits. I see now that I need to go to the Custom Groups tab and select the members in that tab's section three and then save.

I have made the modifications needed now. Much appreciate the help.
