Hi
I've looked in the documentation & at the Appearance section in the FTH3 Administrator section, so I suspect I know the answer - but just want to confirm.

I would love to modernise the look of the FTH3 interface - get closer the full-width look of modern websites - Toastmasters.org's format for example / possilbe inclusion of a Hero image - using Custom CSS.

I have the GeneratePress WP theme, and while they have numerous feature options, their final Customisation option is a section CustomCSS - where you can override / augment the CSS for the theme's ids and classes.

Is that impossible in FTH3 - or purposely not implemented for the Dev Team to preserve their sanity? ...:)

Would something like that be considered (it could be as simple as allowing a CSS File upload that gets added after the temlplates current css file, or a simple editing windows that allow you to directly type in the CSS.).

It would have to be implemented with an explicit / bold statement that no support would be provided in any format by the Dev team / this is only for experienced webmasters who do this entirely on their own. Only option required is the ability to kill the CustomCSS if it somehow kills the display / makes it dysfunctional, and you can access the admin area.

So - confirming - it's not currently possible?
If not, could it be considered in the future?

You cannot change the FTH template. FTH does not use any PHP at all it is not even loaded on the server.
You can use inline css, but if it cases issues, all we will do to fix, is clear the page.
Remember although you are willing to do whatever today, who will do it when you leave?

Hi Brian

OK - I will see if it is worth fiddling, and if I do, it will be minimal, and documented ... Certainly don't want to become a support function.

I am an enterprise architect - so I am fully aware of the need for sustainability / considerations of who will use it next - especially in the TM context with roles changing so regularly..

That's why I embraced FTH2 in 2016 when VPM previously - deliberately decided to use what was there, rather than create any sort of custom CRM system - for the very reason you mentioned.

Maybe all I will do is add a great background image - i.e. no coding at all ... :)

Thanks for your ongoing support of this - appreciate it.

A custom CSS upload would need to be validated, there would need to be a check against already in use class names, ids, etc. and would potentially limit my ability to come up with future classnames for use in the system. (I would have to avoid any in uploaded custom CSS.)

This would be a potential mess that would require the invention of a number of new checks and verifications. Lastly, I think that only a few clubs would use this (more cost than benefit overall) and those that did would likely come to us at some point to fix the layout after the person who uploaded the CSS left the club.

So... yeah, I am definitely with Brian on this. No uploaded CSS, and if you use style blocks or inline CSS, you must know we my delete that in the future if your club comes to us with a layout issue because of it.
