Our club did not meet. Happy Memorial Day.

"The United States and the freedom for which it stands, the freedom for which they died, must endure and prosper. Their lives remind us that freedom is not bought cheaply. It has a cost; it imposes a burden. And just as they whom we commemorate were willing to sacrifice, so too must we—in a less final, less heroic way—be willing to give of ourselves."

May 11, 2020

Tonight we were joined all the way from Virginia Beach, VA by Loretta Macenka. This is a record distance for our zoom meetings to date! Loretta is a long time Toastmaster, and as a collegue of James Riske, is also the reason for his joining our club! Loretta is the current president of her home club, Ready Set Speak, club #1537421.

Our Toastmaster this evening was the exceptional John Dean, DTM, leading our very full meeting with Three speakers, and 15 attendees. The theme tonight was "Zoom -- The Good, Bad, and Ugly". Our first speaker was: Bonnie with "My Pluto: Underdog or Top Dog", where she presented research and facinating facts about the former planet, Pluto. This is Bonnies final speech in Level 1. Congratulations Bonnie. Our second speaker was Ron with "Which Way to Get My License" an story of mentoring in Ron's life. The final speaker this evening was Ajay with "Leadership: Meaning, Definition, and Evalutation".

May the fourth be with you! ;-) ... Yes, our theme tonight was Star Wars! with Telekenisis as the word of the day. We even had a visiting Toastmaster named Paro Vantok attend our online meeting, and host Table Topics from a secret location within rebel-held territory. (pictured below). If that isn't too much for you... you should join our club! Every one had a good time with the theme, and one of our speakers, Kathy, even found a way to incorporate it into her prepared speech on "Effective Speech Introductions".
