"Birthdays" was the Theme this evening at our club - in Table Topics lead by Kathy, whose very own birthday is tomorrow. The word of the day was Whimsy, chosen by first-timer-grammarian Bonnie, who also listened for correct and interesting use of English. Prepared Speakers this evening included James Riske and Guity Parsi. James' gave his second of two speeches as part of his High Performance Leadership project in Pathways Level 5, for which he chaired the Division C Speech Contest held May 2. Guity gave a speech about both Toastmasters Mentoring, and mentoring in her own life outside of Toastmasters.

Best Table Topics went to Ron Drews, Best Evaluator to Torkil, and Best Speaker to Guity.

Congratulations to several members on Recent Educational Award Completions:

Vincent Setiono earned his DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster)*

Kathy Dean earned her ACS (Advanced Communicator Silver)

Ron Drews completed Level 2 of Innovative Planning

Guity Parsi (as of tonight) will have completed Level 2 of Presentation Mastery.

Bonnie Goren completed Level 1 of Effective Coaching

May 11, 2020

Tonight we were joined all the way from Virginia Beach, VA by Loretta Macenka. This is a record distance for our zoom meetings to date! Loretta is a long time Toastmaster, and as a collegue of James Riske, is also the reason for his joining our club! Loretta is the current president of her home club, Ready Set Speak, club #1537421.

Our Toastmaster this evening was the exceptional John Dean, DTM, leading our very full meeting with Three speakers, and 15 attendees. The theme tonight was "Zoom -- The Good, Bad, and Ugly". Our first speaker was: Bonnie with "My Pluto: Underdog or Top Dog", where she presented research and facinating facts about the former planet, Pluto. This is Bonnies final speech in Level 1. Congratulations Bonnie. Our second speaker was Ron with "Which Way to Get My License" an story of mentoring in Ron's life. The final speaker this evening was Ajay with "Leadership: Meaning, Definition, and Evalutation".

May the fourth be with you! ;-) ... Yes, our theme tonight was Star Wars! with Telekenisis as the word of the day. We even had a visiting Toastmaster named Paro Vantok attend our online meeting, and host Table Topics from a secret location within rebel-held territory. (pictured below). If that isn't too much for you... you should join our club! Every one had a good time with the theme, and one of our speakers, Kathy, even found a way to incorporate it into her prepared speech on "Effective Speech Introductions".

We were also honored to have our District 33 Director, Flora Turner, DTM, attend our virtual meeting. And a warm welcome to returning member Grace! Our other prepared speaker this evening was Brina Simon with a powerful speech titled "Alone Together" on the importance of interpersonal connection, as highlighted by the social distancing response to dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Business we elected our slate of club officers for the term of July 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020:

President: Ian Boys

Vice President Education: Eric Browning

Vice President Membership: Ajay Dugar

Vice President Public Relations: Justin Regan

Secretary: Bonnie Goren

Treasurer: Eric Browning

Sergeant At Arms: Julian Espinosa

Immediate Past President: James Riske (not elected).

Our best Table Topics award went to Justin for "Tell us about that time Chewbacca attended your club meeting"... Best Evaluator went to Ron, and best Speaker to Brina. A very full, and over-the-top meeting, by an historic and award winning club.

Thank you Brian. I was restoring the homepage from a year-old back-up (which had been made by using the "save contents to file" under website tools). That file included some FTH CSS code inside the
tags, which then got pasted into source code when trying to restore.

It seems that the "save to file" function is not working anymore as it is. Is the best way to back up to copy the "source" html into individual files?

Thanks again for all you do.

When you use the save contents to file function, it creates a self-contained webpage that can be loaded and viewed independently from FreeToastHost. However, you need to make sure you use the corresponding load contents from file function (do not copy/paste) to load it back in so that they extra stuff that gets added to create the self-contained webpage is removed.

Thanks. No, the issue was resolved. The only thing that I'm curious about is why the home page blanked out in the first place last week... Tuesday or Wednesday. I thought maybe I accidentally deleted the contents (rather unlikely) but then also found that the banner text had also reverted to something like "Toastmasters Club 1864", which is not in the same area. This happened about 2 years ago also. Fortunately we didn't loose any custom pages. Server side issue?
