We purchased our domain name from GoDaddy and it is valid until November 2025. I don't know what to send you. I can't believe we're having this "issue" again! Appreciate your assistance.

When you see this cert renewal failure in your admin messages and you otherwise know that your DNS is configured correctly and your custom domain is working, item 'e' in the list of possible causes is the usual suspect. "We were unable to connect with the free LetsEncrypt! service to create the certificate."

Nothing needs to be done or fixed. The automatic renewal runs early to allow time for normal glitches like this to be sorted out before the current certificate actually expires.

Your current certificate:
Cert Expiration Date/Time: Fri May 20 07:06:57 2022 UTC

The most recent auto-renewal attempt:
[Sat Apr 23 08:05:18 2022 GMT - Renewal Loop] Could not generate the certificate--request_certificate() failed: Could not finalize an order.
The next auto-renewal will likely succeed and you'll see a (recently implemented) admin message advising of the renewal success.

If I read your last comment correctly, your records indicate our certificate will expire on May 20, 2022. I have an order number and receipt from GoDaddy that shows the .com Domain Registration is good until November, 2025. Do I need to engage GoDaddy for clarification?

No you do not need to do anything for the secure certificate we handle that for now. The certificate renews every 90 days.

Your domain expiration and the https certificate expiration are two different distinct things.   Your club handles the custom domain name and its renewal.  However, in order to use https with your domain, you also need a security certificate, and we handle that for you via the free LetsEncrypt! service that our server code interacts with to get you the certificate.

When https usage became common, we had to come up with a reasonable way to support the security certificates for clubs using custom domain names.   LetsEncrypt! allows us to do that.  The fact that its certificates expire every 90 days just requires us to automate the renewals for the certificates.

However, your custom domain name renewals are *not* automated and you will have to renew it at some point with your domain registrar.  This is the most common cause of snafus with clubs and custom domains... they do not renew them before the person who set it up leaves the club.
