But I cannot launch the admin console to get in and make changes. This is a problem I just started having with my desktop mac. I don't have this problem with my macbook pro. Thanks for any suggestions.

Are you logging in with the ADMIN user and password? not you personal login? Can you tell us more about your MAC what version of OSX? What Browser and version are you using? Are there any errors that pop up?
