For as long as I can remember, our club's FTH website address has been niantictoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org/. For whatever reason, that no longer works. We now seem to be 9213.toastmastersclubs.org/. This suddenly happened about a week ago. I'm not sure if someone changed a setting at our end or if something at Free Toast Host changed. The result is that members are having difficulty finding the online agenda. How can I correct this?  Thanks, Steve M.

It sounds like someone removed the text from the "alias" field in the admin console. You can login to 9213.toastmastersclubs.org and replace the alias text (which will be  niantictoastmasters, not the whole website address). Once you've saved the change, it should work immediately.

This works for me:  niantictoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org/

Thanks Jane. I've found the "alias" in the administrator's console, and sure enough it had been changed from "niantictoastmasters" to simply "niantic". I've been trying to change it back, and the system keeps telling me "success", but when I try to log on to niantictoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org I'm directed to a page that says "FreeToastHost - Request a Website", which is actually www.toastmastersclubs.org/welcome/?oZUg.

Could there be something else wrong? Thanks, Steve M.

Thanks; I'm not much of a technical person, but my non-Toastmaster wife says she'll clear my cache for me.

Our members have been checking in today and some are still having difficulty and others are having it work fine. Maybe this experience will make a great "Researching and Presenting" project speech. I'll give it a try.

Clarifying a couple points;

9213.toastmastersclubs.org/ will always work. The club number is how FTH keeps all sites organized in the system. If a club member browses to this address, they will not be redirected to the alias address. niantictoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org/

Regardless of which address they visit, it's the same site and they can login and use it either way.

When I would Google "Niantic Toastmasters", as if I'm a non-member looking for more information, I would get information specifically for our club in the upper right-hand corner of the computer screen with Google's "Website ... Directions ... Save" menu. Then I'd click on the "Website" button, it would take me to a Free Toast Host "Request a Website" page. My reaction was "Yikes, I don't want a potential member having that experience." But more lately, I'm coming to a better understanding of how this "browser cashe" works and how my experience isn't necessarily going to be someone else's experience.

A few days before a meeting, I'll also do a cut and paste of the link for the online agenda and send it out to our members as a reminder to sign up for meeting roles. I want to make sure they're getting the right information as well.

I ran the search as you described on your club name. The Website button took me to your club site; niantictoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org/

Why do you cut and paste the link to the agenda? The agenda has an email function that will email the agenda to your members.

You should read ALL the documentation it will greatly improve your knowledge of what FTH can do for your club.
