On 2255.toastmastersclubs.org I accidentally broke our site when I pasted some revised text into the main heading section on home page tab. I have had this happen before, I believe what happened last time was that some html code ended up getting pasted into that section by mistake but it was "invisible" so I wasn't able to remove it on my end up you were able to clear it. We have a club meeting tomorrow. Thanks for you help!

It seems to be loading now. It was the website banner field that was faulty.
But some of the text from the home page and possibly information/directions page is missing. I hope you have backups.

If anything else needs fixing, another admin will need to get involved. This is probably above my pay grade.

To prevent this in future, it's best to copy from a text file (notepad) rather than a Word document. You are less likely to pick up problematic characters accidentally.

Jane, thank you for your assistance and tip for preventing the issue in future! I had a backup saved for homepage content so site is back up and running as expected.

Hi Jane, I feel bad bothering you again but I messed it up again! Can you clear out that banner field / home page (whichever is causing the issue) so I can get back in? Thank you!

I've cleared out the Website Banner Text and this is what the system says was in it.

I don't know how all that got there. I'd make a suggestion: when you replace whatever you tried to enter and which got messed up, do it by hand ie. old-fashioned typing. That way, you shouldn't be able to have any funky characters sneak in.

You can log into the admin panel now.

...so I can get back in? Thank you!

If the admin login is still active, sometimes it's possible to reach the admin console via the edit icon on the /directions page. (depends on the nature of the issue; if the problem is limited to the home page, or affects more of the site.)
