Thanks for the facility to aggregate numbered roles. That makes the history file a lot more manageable.

I have a question.

For most of the year, a club may have one timer at a meeting, who is designated "Timer".

At contest time, though, there may be "Timer #1", "Timer #2" and so on.

How will the role history file handle this? I'd prefer not to have "Timer #1" for the rest of the year when it's not needed.

Jane,

Would it make sense to make them Contest Timer #1, Contest Timer #2?

Roger

I did wonder about that, because timing at a contest is a slightly different thing from timing at a standard meeting.

I'd still like to know what Bo or Brian has to say, though.

P.S. I see you're an ambassador now.

Jane,

I changed my contest agenda to be ContestMaster #1 and ContestMater #2, along with Contest Timer #1 and ContestTimer #2, ran the role report and they are separate columns.

So, I think it will work, but I agree, Brian or Bo probably know without trying it.

Thank you, Bo.

I was a little worried that it might explode if I did that. :)

Is that because your are counting the role as the first word in the Role/Activity Title? If this is the case, it can give us some insight on designing Role names, ie. for multiple word roles, we should use "_" between words, etc.

I've been testing agenda changes by creating a dummy agenda three or four months ahead - far enough not to confuse members - and testing what happens in the role history spreadsheet.

Bill, no, it is not the first word, we just remove everything after the "#".

Can you have things other than numbers after the #, then?

Such as:
  • Table Topics Evaluator #Odd
  • Table Topics Evaluator #Even

Yes, anything after the "#" is stripped out of the role reports.
