I have just completed a scavenger hunt for my club site. Sent it to my VPEd, who actually said she found some features that she didn't know existed. Forwarded to the club members today, and doing a presentation for my Speaking To Inform speech in one week.

Roger, love your idea. I just finished sending repeat "welcome" emails to some members who've not yet logged in.

Now I have to work on creating "goodies" to hide in among the pages.

Michael,

For me, the purpose was two-fold. It is almost impossible to test and/or proof read everything. So, I felt that by having the members look it over, I had a better chance of tweaking it to meet their needs. My bonus question of "What word is mis-spelled on the website?" is my version of spell-check.

Roger,
I too intend to have a "scavenger hunt" on the websites for my clubs.I promote use of the website at every meeting but I know there are still members who have not bothered to check them out. Nice idea. Thanks

I like the idea, but to avoid recreating the wheel could you tell us 5-6 of the questions you ask them and what "reward" they get when they complete it, etc? Not sure some of our members would complete it if so which is why I'm encouraging a "each one teach one" approach to getting our members up and running on the new website.

It is located in the Public downloads of crowncity.toastmastersclubs.org Mine was very club specific. Prizes would vary depending on how many people participated and your budget. We mainly did it for fun.

The find a mis-spelled word is used as my spell check.

Following your lead (great idea by the way), I have created Scavenger Hunts for my two clubs, I will copy the questions below, to help inspire others. Note that I made the questions specific to each club, in order to ensure that they fully explore the features of each. I also wanted to make this a fun search, not just a way of stating how "tasks" are performed on the site.

I should add, that some of the questions can be answered by any visitor to the site, while some questions require logging in as a member to find the answer. I also created some questions that are specifically designed to encourage members to use certain features (like the questions about FaceBook and LinkeIn).
