Hello Cathy;

Nice job so far....

1. Watch the colors you use

2. Maybe put location at top on home page

3. Maybe put the membership application on the top of membership page as a link

I am assuming the photo is of a club member... Good job... Maybe write a little something about the photo

Overall, good job

Linda

Hi Cathy,
I can see you are having great fun.
I have one suggestion that your members might find interesting and that is a link to the District 70 Facebook page.

The photos certainly look as though your club is a “fun club”, the sort of club I would like to visit. I get the impression from the pictures and your calendar that you have a lot of theme meetings and that your members participate readily. I think there would be more impact if you were to enlarge the pictures.

As a visitor to your site I would like to see a bit more about Camden Toastmasters Club at the top of your home page, and the generic Toastmasters information further down. A lot of what you say on your home page is very similar to the information provided in the default panes at the bottom, so I suggest you hide the default panes.

In your home page you have a link to the TI home page. There is a link to the TI site in the menu, so I would remove the one in your home page. You also refer readers to the “enquiries link”. I would change that to the “Contact Us” link and link the page to the words “Contact Us”

Your Main Menu Items:

Meeting Information/Directions:
I like the maps that you have provided giving directions to the meeting place, but the page is very busy with directions for during and after the renovations. I would keep only the renovation information up until the renovations are complete, then swap them for the after renovation instructions.
Your Find-a-Club link doesn't work (probably due to recent changes to the TI website). You should be able to insert a map into the page using the information provided on the page in the admin console. Ask for support here if you need help with that.
The link to the printable map seems to point to a “members only” file – visitors to your site can’t access it. There is, however a file in the public downloads area that shows the map – maybe you can link to that instead.

Other Clubs in your District:
I’m not sure that you need the page with links to other clubs in your District. I would suggest listing only other clubs in your area, or maybe have a link to the District 70 home page. For menu titles you needn’t include “click here’, that is implied.

Club Officer Contacts:
This should probably be a “members only” page. You have the Contact Us page for visitors. If I saw the Club Officer Contacts as a visitor I wouldn't know who I should contact.
I like that you have two names and numbers on your Contact Us page – that is adequate for page visitors.

Membership Information:
I would remove the membership dues message to members (that should be sent to them by the treasurer). Current members are unlikely to access this page, and it is not the sort of information guests need. The rest of the information on this page is useful to visitors.
Rather than say 'For WHEN and WHERE, click on "Meeting Information / Directions" under the MAIN MENU', I would suggest you just say 'Click here to find out when and where we meet' and link the sentence to the Meeting Information / Directions page (To do this you need to copy the URL of the page from the address bar, and then highlight the sentence or words you want to link to it, click on the chain link icon with a ‘+’ sign in the editor, paste it into the URL box and save).

Overall a good site that can be made even better with a just a few tweaks.

Good start.

1. I'd move the part about when/where you meet up toward the top so one doesn't have to scroll so much to get to it.
2. Change the purple font to regular.. maybe bold it if you are worried about people seeing it.
3. Maybe take your photos and make a slider or animated gif to put first rather than dispersing them throughout the page.

I didn't go exploring on your menu links yet.. so that's all for now.. Ilike I said.. really good start on making it personal and not just the pre-made gobble dee goop.

keep up the good work.

I forgot to add, try putting a Welcome message at the top of home page and if you have a Facebook or Twitter page for your club or area, show that in your side panel and have a link on your home page to those sites.

Cathy,

In order to continue to have this forum section be useful into the future, we need to request that everyone contribute to it.

Therefore, we are implementing "Get an evaluation, give an evaluation." . Basically, we are requesting those who have received a website evaluation give a Toastmasters style website evaluation for at least one other club that has requested an evaluation in this forum section. (You get to choose which club website to do the website evaluation for.) Just post your impressions: things you like about the website, and areas for improvement. Everyone has something to offer... just trust your instincts. :)
