Hi - I'm the VP of Education for MedImmunicators:

I have assigned a few of our new members mentors but they are not receiving the notifications and I am not receiving them either - which used to happen in the past. Can you please assist?

When you assigned the mentor/mentee did you tick the box
"Send Assignment Notification Email(s)"

Hi Brian: I did tick the box and it still was not working. I tried it with 3 different members but the result was the same, none of them received the notification. However, the system does show that they are matched up with me when I run a mentor/mentee report. So I am not sure as to why no-one is getting the notification.

The checkbox has to be ticked before you save. If you save without the checkbox ticked the assignment will be made and show in the reports, but the email won't be sent. If you tick the box after saving and then save again, the email still won't be sent. The only way to force the email after an initial save is to remove the mentor, and then start again (as explained on the form).

Also, this only works for *additions* to mentors to prevent duplicate emails being sent to people selected as mentors previously.

So... If Joe has a mentor Susie (already), and you add Bob as a mentor and check the email box, then only Joe and Bob should get the email.

Also, if you load the assignment form and check the box but have not added any new mentors, then no emails will be sent. To send the emails again, clear the mentors, save, then set them again but check the box for the notifications.

This is on purpose. For the case above, you would not want Susie getting another email since she probably already got one previously. This is why this feature works on *changes*.

In fact, the pop-up says the following (if you read it):
NOTE: Assignment notification emails are only sent for mentors that are *added*, not removed. To re-send a notification email, remove the mentor, save, then re-add them, and then save again. If someone is not receiving notification emails, they should check their junk email folder.
