I'd like to inquire whether there's a method to highlight one of the menu selections by making it bold when a link is clicked.

No, not on clicking.  If you want to highlight a menu item, you could use asterisks or special characters before the title, but that will affect the position of the menu item if you're using basic alphabetic sorting (See the section Relocate this Web Page's Menu Entry in this documentation: support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/custom-pages to overcome that issue)
