The file storage allowed for FTH is very limiting. In today's computing environment it is not uncommon to see files much greater than the 5meg limit. FTH could introduce a "professional" which would allow a club to rent more space if they need it. Yes, I know there would need to be a lot of details worked out, but this is just the start of an idea.

Clubs have the option of using any other service or Storage Service they wish and use html links to those files from their FTH site.

That facility has been there for years. Please read the documentation contained on this site.

Stan, one of things that I consider as a strength of FTH is how easy it is to integrate content and services from other locations.

We purposely do not try to be all things to all clubs... This allows us to focus our limited resources and my limited spare time on the functionality that delivers the most benefits to the majority of clubs using the system.

I do not doubt that some clubs would benefit from more advanced functionality. However, my view is always whether it will benefit the majority of clubs vs some select few. In some cases, there is just a diminishing return on the investment of my effort.

This does not mean that we are uninterested in advancing the technology. However, sometimes what is needed is an advancement in how easy it is to implement the new technology. A good example of this was that we implemented HTTPS support last year--we had certainly talked about it in the past, but what made it really feasible for us was the recent availability of free Let's Encrypt SSL certs that we can set up for custom domains. (We will likely be soon using Let's Encrypt across the board.)

Steve,

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I fully understand that features need to address the wider user base. (I was once a software architect.) I admit I don't know the whole user base of FTH. I base my ideas on the few use cases I know of and try to think of how to expand past my own knowledge base.

I also fully understand the limits of resources and the need to focus efforts on the strategic direction of the organization (e.g. FTH). We always have to look at new features in regards to the ability to implement them.

Most ideas go through a life cycle from the point where one person floats an idea and the idea becoming something worth doing. I like the idea part of this site as it gives idea a place to grow and mature. Thanks for having it.

Thanks,
Stan
