Hi Everyone,

Can I create a new email list for our Club? We're working on a new project, a newsletter, and I'd like to have a list dedicated just to those members working on the project.

Thanks!

Thanks. I checked that link you sent. Thanks. However, in this part of the instructions:

"To create a new group, select which main group you wish the group members to come from. Then enter the group name in the field."

I can't find where the Groups are located. I'd send you a screenshot of the Menu options, but it looks as if there's no Upload options here. In any case, I've checked every menu link and could not find "Group." The closest I came was the Club Email Addresses, but that looks like it's only for sending out an email.

Ok, we need to tweak our wording a bit, it looks like.

When it says "Main Group" substitute "list".

Lists in FTH are the members list, the prospects list, the guest list, the former members list, the friends list, etc. ... Basically the tabs that you see in Membership Management. These are all also processed as email distribution lists by the list server. (hence, "list")

Yes it is semantics.... We need to use two different terms, list and group, as you can see to limit confusion. (And even then, it can still be confusing.)

Custom Groups are subsets of the main lists of people. Therefore, when making a custom group, you need to pick which list to create it from.

Got it — yes, "terms" make a difference! :)

Also, lists frequently have specific characteristics that cause them to be handled a bit differently from each other by the system.

For example, people in the Members list are handled differently than those in the Former Members list.

And also, at least for me, an easier option is just to create a 'group' with your regular non-FTH email. Then in the TO line, just type in the name of your group and all the emails you chose for the group pop in there. It's an option.
