Each week i put up a new weekly blog at 6658.toastmastersclubs.org/Coastmaster_Meeting_Wrap_Ups.html to keep the site dynamic and busy. In the list of web site items it is buried in the middle of the list at the left. How can I put it at the top so that it is more easily seen? And, if possible, can the title be colored or enlarge or something?

Thanks for helping

Hi, CDub!!

You can move your custom entry higher in the list, near to the top, though it takes a bit of work to get it there. Start with the following document:

support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/links-to-other-sites

... which shows how you can add a menu entry that's a link to another site. You can also use this to add a link to a page that's already on your site, like the "Meet our Members" or "Meeting Directions" pages. These added links can be put anywhere on the menu that you'd like.

Now that you've got two entries for each of these pages, you can go to the appearance tab in the Admin Console and hide the original entries that are at the top of the menu.

The "Home" link at the top of the menu doesn't have a convenient way to hide it that I can find, but you can move your entry up near to the top with this technique.

To make your entry more prominent, you might try typing in all caps. I've done something like this on my site, which you can check below, if you'd like.

IMPORTANT: When we do a crazy trick like this, I think it's important to think of future site admins, and leave a note telling that we did this. Under the 'Home Page" tab, there's a "Home Page Reference Notes" field where you can leave such a note, explaining why these standard pages have been hidden, how you added them back, and why you'd do such a Dastardly Deed...

Of course, if you want a really prominent link to your blog (really nice job with it, by the way...) just put one right above or right below the picture at the top of your home page, and you can make it any color and any size you'd like. I suspect that many visitors don't look at the menu anyway, so this would be a better place to put your blog in front of people.

Take care...

Wes B.
