At 11:57 PM Sunday April 28th, I received an email saying that a "Not a Member" link was clicked for me, but to do nothing if I did not initiate it.  I was asleep in bed since 10:30 PM, so it was not me.  I got up in the middle of the night and saw this email.  I got on to the club's FTH website.  I signed on as the website administrator a little after 3:00 AM.  The admin log had a timestamped message 4/29/2024 7:06 AM GMT (3:06 AM our time) which stated that this change of member status had been completed.  I went to the member management section and clicked the Member Management tab to find me listed under former members.  I reset my status and the officer position.  I did notice under the member access log on the club's member only page that there was an individual signed on close to the time of the dated request for status change (I am reaching out to that individual).

This is the second time in 2 weeks that this has happened.

Thoughts.

My club (Karner Blue Toastmasters, Club # 983146 is experiencing this also. This is the second message I and the other members have received. Also, the system seems to be placing active members in the "former members" tab even if they are not clicking the link. Very frustrating. Please look into this and let me know what I can do on my end. Just deleting the messages doesn't solve the problem. Thanks!"Hello,A "Not a Member" link was clicked in an email to request that Linda Magoon, IPI be moved to Former Member status in the website for club 983146, Karner Blue Toastmasters Club.If you clicked that link, then please also click the following link to confirm that your status should really be changed to Former Member status in the website: urldefense.com/v3/__https://983146.toast...iG7fXZ8CQbfCSG6SXBw$ If you did not click that link, then please just ignore or delete this email.(You may also want to discuss disabling the "Not a Member" links with your club website admin or discourage your members from forwarding emails.)Note that this only affects your status in the club 983146 website.  It does *not* affect your status with Toastmasters International--that is separate and different.>>> We apologize for requiring this extra step--it has become necessary due to problems caused by people clicking the "Not a Member" link in emails forwarded to them (not originally sent to them).Thank you for all that you have accomplished in Toastmasters and all that you have contributed to your club! The FreeToastHost Administration Team"

Three times today I have been moved to the former member group:
  • 7:06 AM GMT (3:06 AM)
  • 8:09 AM GMT (4:09 AM)
  • 11:58 AM GMT (7:58 AM)
Three times I have reset myself.

When this happens, and I go into FTH as a member, the logon does not find my name until after the reset.

Some email providers seem to click the "Not a Member" link before processing email with that link active.
At this time the best way to prevent this from happening it is to check the 'Add "Not a Member?" links' option off in your Email & Contact forms module (Email Security tab) - see  support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/reducing-spam
