Hi,

One of the clubs I belong too (Website www.adelaidecity.org.au/) is now not responding. The error message is: We can’t connect to the server at www.adelaidecity.org.au.The other two Clubs, Synergy and Adelaide Central are fine. The question is, has this site been closed down ? Is there a request for an upgrade gone wrong ? The missing Club No. is:1078222.

Regards,

Peter VPE of Adelaide City (Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

1078222.toastmastersclubs.org is always available.

There's no custom domain configured for club 1078222.

If a club member owns the domain it's DNS needs to be configured to work with FTH and it has to be added to the the club's admin console.

Hi,
Would changing these setting make the website disappear ? It had been operating fine until now.
We now do not access to that page, so, if the settings were changed, they can not be changed.
Do we hold a log of such actions for each of the FTH websites ? As each is registered, a log would tell when such event took place, if such was actioned.
If the website has been lost, can a club apply for a replacement ?

Regards,

Peter

www.adelaidecity.org.au does not exist as a domain. You need to have the person who purchased the domain for you club contact the registrar.

Hi Brian,

You are right that the domain does not exist. Trouble is, there are now strings attached to that domain. The Australian branch has tightened the criteria for its use. You now have to be a registered charity to use that domain and a toastmasters club does not normally fit that definition. So, although we have had that domain, other domains may have to be found. Stay tuned.

If you have to find a new site name, you could consider using an alias, such as adelaidecity [dot] toastmastersclubs [dot] org

That can be set up in  a few seconds and you don't need to remember to renew it every year. See support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/website-alias for details.

Hi Jane,

That is under active consideration. We'll explore things further this Sunday.

Interestingly, a recent query has a club using .org.au (support.toastmastersclubs.org/2011-10-23...e-inaccessible#94885).
One of my clubs used to have a .org.au website, but we were advised many years ago (~2019) that it wouldn't be available to us after 2021.  We moved to using an alias as Jane has suggested.
It might still be available if you are an incorporated club
