Cannot Edit Meeting Agenda for BMD.Toastmastersclubs.org

Nina - I tried looking at your home page - I was forced to do a save. Please will you try making the change you were trying to make on your home page and see if that works now. Then try the agenda again. Let us know if anything has changed.

Update - I found a reference to an image that I think was causing a problem with saving the home page. I've recorded it below in case it is needed or not the cause of the problem. The home page now saves successfully.

Nina, regarding your agenda edit issue... if there are any errors in the Javascript code, you will see the circle thing, but the actual details of the errors are hidden away in a place called the "Developer Console". I need your help to see if there are any errors showing up there and what the details are...

If you go through the motions of editing an agenda until you get to the place with the problem, then you should press the F12 key. This loads up a special window that is the MS Edge Developer Console. It will have a black strip that is the menu... make sure the Console tab on the strip is highlighted, then do a screen snip from there and post it here... Pay attention to any text in red... those are usually error details. (I need that.)

I don't recall doing anything out of the ordinary. I still cannot edit the colors on my home page (which is what I might have been doing when the problem arose? Nina, this helps a *lot*... thank you for taking my directions on this. I made a small change to the agenda code that I hope will resolve this issue for you. Please try to edit an agenda now. If you encounter any more problems with the code just freezing up, send me another screen shot.

The compounding problem is that the agendas for this club are what I refer to as "complex". They have multiple # signs in some role titles and the parenthesis in some role titles were breaking the recently added auto-renumbering functionality--remember that the # has special significance for FTH agendas. My change I just made should fix the parenthesis issue, but in general, the extra # signs may cause problems for you if you choose to use the auto-renumbering feature. (You would need to add asterisks to the numbered roles if you want to use the renumbering.) I would probably advise you to shut off the auto-renumbering for these agendas. (uncheck the checkbox at the top of the agenda)

Club #3941, Hi Steve, Yes! Thanks a million! Thanks for being understanding and sticking with my problem. I turned off the "Auto-renumbering" function. What did I turn off? What does that function do? I will be able to remove the parentheses when the Competent Leadership manual goes away in 2 years! I could do it sooner, if auto-renumbering is a good function to have. I can now edit my BMD agendas and add future agendas again! I'm sorry my "#" and "()" caused the problem. What can I say? They worked until recently! I am still unable to edit the colors on my Home Page. I pressed "F12" and copied and attached what came up in case you can fix that problem also. (My president of a couple of years ago liked a purple background). One suggestion. I had a hard time figuring out how to respond to you this way on this website. I suggest highlighting with a different color the sentence or the words "Log In" or "create a new account" to respond to your messages on this website.
