Changing the club admin

Ideally, a departing administrator will hand over the details, or even set up the site with the new admin before leaving. Unfortunately, this doesn't always happen and you may find yourself stuck without access to the site. Fortunately, there is a way of regaining access.

The following instructions may seem unnecessarily complex. We do it this way to prevent a malicious person, or even a bot, from pretending to be a member and taking over your site.

The first step is to check that your club contact details are up to date in Club Central. In particular, you need a working email address. Make sure that it's publicly accessible — that is, that anyone can send emails to it. Don't use addresses such as your club's officers- alias.

Once you've made that change, allow about 24 hours before moving on to the next step. If no change is needed, you can do this straight away.

Go to https://www.toastmastersclubs.org/welcome/change-admin/ and fill in the form. Club numbers should have no leading zeros and District numbers should begin with "d" (e.g. d72). All four fields need to be completed and the Terms of Use checkbox needs to be checked. When that's done, submit the form.

You will receive an email with a confirmation link. You need to click on that for the next stage to take place.

The system will then send emails to the current official admin, the club president (or District Director if it's a District site) and the club's official contact address in Club Central. Any one of them can either allow or deny the request. Let them know to expect an email, and to check their spam folders if they don't see it.

Once one of them has approved the request, you'll get an email with instructions for signing in.
