Hello, I am the administrator for Waynesville toastmasters club ( www.2842.toastmastersclubs.org ). Two-three days ago I could log in with my club number and password. I cannot log in today. Why? Help! I, also, cannot log in as a member on this site. The authentication is not sent to my email. Help!

We are changing web addresses from wsrtoastmasters.com ($15 site that is running out in july) to the default address which is www.2842.toastmastersclubs.org .

I would greatly appreciate your help as I would like to log in to begin promoting our club. Teresa

Teresa,

I see the domain expiration warning in your admin messages. Great! :) (I recently added the code to create those warnings.)

So lets help you through this transition...

1. Definitely pay attention to what Darlene is pointing out above. You will need to get used the difference in how your website address words. No www used when not using a custom domain like you were using in the past.

2. To expedite future support requests, please put your club # and website address in your forum signature. Please see the link in my signature below for how to do that.

3. You should choose a website alias and enter that in the Admin Console now. I recommend wsr or wsra as your website alias. They are short, and you would be able to access your website by typing in:
Code:
http://wsr.toastmastersclubs.org OR http://wsra.toastmastersclubs.org
Always keep the website alias short... do not include toastmasters in the website alias... it is redundant when you type on the website alias version of the website address.

4. Website aliases only work for accessing your website via your browser. The other thing that will change is email. Your custom domain is tied to your club email addresses, also. If you choose to let your custom domain expire, you will need retrain yourself and your club numbers to use the club number version of the email lists...
Code:
e.g. members-2842@toastmastersclubs.org

5. You can use both the website alias and the custom domain as well as the club number versions of the website address/email lists during the transition. They all will work as they are just different ways to accomplish the same objectives. This gives you some time to get your club members up to speed.

6. You will need to consider anywhere that your club website address or email addresses are referenced, such as on TI Find A Club. You should update those to the club # versions *now*. I always recommend using the club number versions for the website address on Find A Club, because the club number version will *always* work, even if you change the website alias in the future.

7. Consider how to get your club members up to speed on the change. My recommendation is to create a "cheat sheet" containing the new website address and email addresses for their reference.

Lastly, come back here any time if you have questions. We are all here to help. :)

Thank you Darlene and Steve the Techie. Steve, I cannot find admin console. Is it on this support website or my 2842.toastmastersclubs.org (which I dont think it is there because I cannot log in)? Please forgive me as I am still learning computer skills. Thank you, Teresa

Teresa,

The Launch Admin Console link will not show until you are logged in as the admin on the club website.
