Modification of public officer email address

Dear FreeToastHost team,

Is there a way to change the publicly accessible email address for an officer?

The secretary address for my club is simply secretary @ our domain.

The problem is that I have been receiving many, many spam emails. Setting SPAM assassin to 3.5 isn't reducing it and the blacklist doesn't work as the spammers set up a new domain for each email.

My club is Club 1575 - Toastmasters 75.

The only option I found was to disable the email address completely, but I would prefer to have another one to give to the officer that replaces me.

Thank you in advance.

-Rob.

You can make up a new address and set that up as an email for people to email you. Please read the documentation on this site for setting up an email.

Set up a one member custom group in MM, then make sure one member custom groups are public is checked in Email Settings.

For example you could make a custom group called secretary2 and the email address would be secretary2@ourdomain.org

You should also ask the new secretary to edit his/her profile. Under email settings they should check the "Do not create a public officer email address for me" box. That will disable all email sent to secretary @ our domain. If you don't do this the spam will still get through.

If your officers or members use the provided secretary email address (e.g. when copying the secretary in on external email as is standard practice), make sure that they know to use the new alias. Email sent to the "officers" group will go to the secretary, regardless of the settings.
