Custom Domain working but mail is not working was created by shawn1874
Greetings. I've attached an image showing how I setup our MX record on godaddy.com but the FTH instructions are not 100% clear to me. I don't know if I am doing this correctly. Please take a look at the attachment for more information. I've encircled the MX record and added my comments to the image to explain further.
I'm not quite sure what the 10 was supposed to be and what the name and value are supposed to be.

I found this documentation on godaddy but it is outdated.
support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/dns-settings-godaddy
When I logon the user interface is much different as you can see in the image that I attached. One thing I have discovered is that if I update our website to use a custom domain then it will change all of our existing email addresses. That is a big consideration if we already have been using those. Do you think it is possible that I can just enter the current email addresses to keep them as is while changing only the web address used to get to the site?
An alternative is to simply setup domain forwarding and just have our domain redirect to the existing one. I guess I could do that so that we can use our domain and keep the club email addresses as is. however I wonder if there is a way to do the full domain setup, but keep the existing toasthoast club email addresses.

Do not do domain forwarding... not supported.
Ditch the ftp record... not supported.
Also, you did not enter your domain in the admin console. Basic Settings

"Also, you did not enter your domain in the admin console. Basic Settings"
I did do that but then I changed back, because the email addresses didn't work. I didn't want to leave our website in a nonworking state.
"Do not do domain forwarding... not supported."
What do you mean by that? I have it setup now and it is working as far as I can tell. vaportrailstm.com is forwarded already.
The setup of the email is what I had trouble with. What is the number 10 supposed to mean from the FTH documentation? I can't figure out how to map the information to the fields that godaddy provides. In godaddy we have name/value headings when editing the MX record, but in the documentation for FTH the terminology is different.

After doing this, then enter your domain name in the admin console. It may take up to a day or so for your DNS record changes to be detectable by the FTH server.
This is all spelled out in our online documentation--please familiarize yourself with that.. While our user provided GoDaddy doc may be out of date, there is not much we can do about that other than get rid of it... However, our generic DNS settings doc is up to date and accurate.

I've already told you that I read the FTH documentation, and that it is not clear to me.
support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/dns-settings-overview
Now where you have the # 10 is enter the heading of "ENTRY". How am I supposed to know it is the TTL value from reading that? Looking at what I have attached, there are two other fields "NAME", and "POINTS TO". The term "Entry" is an ambiguous term. There are three fields, not two that must be filled out in the godaddy form for the MX entry. I'm not sure why you think that should be obvious to me.In your documentation the number 10 is in the same column as what I would put into the Host field for the A records. It makes no sense.
Also at this location the picture indicates for the TTL for godaddy to be set to 1 hour , not 10. In fact, 10 is not a valid setting for godaddy. It won't let me save that (assuming that it mean seconds).
support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/dns-settings-godaddy
Between those two pages, the instructions are quite confusing. What should the value of "Host" be for the godaddy setup? That is the final question, now that I know what the 10 is supposed to mean. In fact I need to ignore the 10 value since it is not even a valid number to enter for TTL. You see the problem yet?
