Adding a guest to an agenda

Adding a guest to an agenda was created by mjtomsho
Checking this board I have seen several people suggest you add a user called Guest to the member list without an email address to add a guest to your agenda.
I have seen at least one of these suggestions dated 2020 or 2021. However, if I try to do this (club is in US) the email address is auto filled with a dummy email and I get a pop up window that says until the member clicks on the link that will be emailed to them, they are not officially in the list and the member Guest does not appear in the drop down to assign a member to an agenda item. There does not seem to be any way to override this (which makes sense.) I cannot delete the email address (it just reappears when I click save..
Is there another way to do this?

Hi,
I hope to provide a good solution for you. For years, my club has had at the bottom of the Members list in the Membership Management section placeholder entries for when a particular meeting role is filled by a guest, the area director, etc. (see attached screenshot) Whoever has agenda edit access can assign a given role to one of these placeholders, and then as a courtesy identify the person by name in the Meeting Notes box at the bottom of the agenda. I've seen a club reserve a speaker slot for a guest by having one of the members put him/herself in as that speaker then noting in the Meeting Notes "reserved for Gary Guest," and while that might work, it's not as graceful as actually having "{Guest}" appear for that role on the agenda with the person's name below.

Some clubs have a "GUEST or NEW MEMBER" entry on the membership roster with the email going to an officer's secondary email address. This way that officer can verify
1. approve that email be added to the roster
2. know that a role is being held for a guest or new member
Hope this helps,
