I have changed the Description under the module Website Settings, Basic Settings. I have done this because our meeting venue has changed. The edit was successful, but the new description is not showing up in the search engine. It looks as if the description had never been changed. What am I missing? Browsers I have tried - Chrome, Safari, IE.

Browsers cache a *lot* of stuff for performance. Unfortunately, this has a side effect of not always showing updates promptly.

Also, indexing engines (web crawlers) do not re-index each website instantaneously. However, you can use something like Webmaster Tools to request an immediate re-index. This is one key function of Webmaster Tools.

So... Clear your browser caches and request a re-index w/ Webmaster Tools.

support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/website-statistics for help setting up our integration w/ Webmaster Tools

www.google.com/webmasters/#?modal_active=none (Search Console) for access to Google's Webmaster Tools.

support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/improving-google-ranking for extra detailed information.

Basically, using either Google's or Bing's Webmaster tools allow you to make special requests of the respective search engine regarding your website such as "please re-index my website now so that changes are reflected in your search results now". If you do not set up the integration w/ Google or Bing webmaster tools, then you have to wait for their web crawlers to re-index your website (just like everyone else does).

I realize that this may seem like a lot for just reflecting your Description promptly, but please understand that what you are asking about is a function of the search engines, not FreeToastHost. We provide the ability to set the meta-data and we support integrations w/ the webmaster tools (and Google Analytics), but we really cannot do much beyond that.
