role sign-ups from email?

I'm working on convincing my club to use the FTH agenda functions instead of spreadsheets and Word. In fact, I'm giving a speech about it on Thursday. I have a question that I haven't been able to find after an exhaustive search in the forums and documentation. The "responding to emailed agendas" page doesn't address this.

What happens if you sign up for a role using a button in the email, but someone else has already taken that role since that email was sent out?

Does the confirmation email you get back tell you that? Does it change the role assignment to you? I would hope it wouldn't override the assignment, because that could cause a lot of confusion.

You would get an email back telling you that someone has already taken the role since the agenda was emailed out. There is logic in place to handle that scenario. (I analyzed the many scenarios when I implemented that functionality.)

In that scenario, the person could use the link (in the original agenda email) to request a more up to date email be send to them.

That sounds perfect, and I was hoping that was the case. I know you're very thorough about looking at all angles, but I haven't been able to test it myself yet.
