508 compliance question

I did a search, but I could not find reference to alt text or other 508 requirements. I uploaded a photo but could not add alt text or a photo credit.

I haven't a clue what 508 means as I am not in the USA.

Below is a quick description. Basically how people with disabilities connect. For example, will a electronic reader for the blind be able to describe a photo (which is the alt text). After working with the federal government for so long, I hope there are ways to make our content accessible, even though this is a nongoverment site.

Section 508 compliance is a U.S. federal law requirement under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 mandating that all Information and Communication Technology (ICT) developed, procured, maintained, or used by federal agencies must be accessible to people with disabilities. This includes websites, software, electronic documents, and multimedia.

FTH is not a federal anything so that does not apply to us. If someone wants to fun the training and cost of implementing something like that put them in touch with me. I would love a return on my time I put into FTH.
