Pam, I'm using Safari on an M1 Mac. I used the usual method of opening the PDF from the meeting agenda, saving it to my computer, then adding notes as needed. I'd never had this issue before. I also cannot reproduce this issue with other Evaluation PDFs on the site. Once the PDF is locked, I cannot open it with Preview or Adobe Acrobat.
Doing some testing, I found that if I first open it in Adobe Acrobat, the file is shown as "(SECURED)" but I can save changes and open it again in Adobe Acrobat. I can also open it in Preview, but once I save that it interprets this "SECURED" file as having a password again and can no longer be opened with any application. Again, this only applies to this single PDF - even when freshly downloaded from the agenda on dtt.toastmastersclubs.org.
I was going to try opening the PDF from Toastmasters, but I can only access the version from 11/2016. Toastmastersclubs.org is pulling a newer version from 09/2021. I couldn't duplicate the problem with the 11/2016 version, but that doesn't help much. I can't find the 09/2021 version to test.
SteveTheTechie, thanks. That makes me think the problem is likely either a combination of a small problem in the building of the PDF and my computer's interpretation of that problem (not sure if that problem is inherent in the PDF or just when opening in Safari before being saved), or it's some fluke solely in the way my computer created the file when opening from the site (which would continue causing problems until I clear my cash and open it again for the first time).
I'll take it from here and do some testing before reaching out to Toastmasters.org. I'll pop back into the forums here if we determine there's some kind of problem on this end.
Thanks for the responses.
