"Not a Member link
3 years 2 months ago
Good afternoon Free Toast Host Team,
I am our Clubs VPE and I received this email yesterday which I find very odd and wonder if it relates to one of our 'rogue' ex-members who has been targeting some of our executive committee over the last few months. She was previously our Club Treasurer and we have banned her from all access to FTH and changed the log in password. Is there any other way that person could have gained access in order to access our membership list and make unauthorised changes? I have since restored our membership list as it should be but just wondering why this is possible?
Thank you Kind RegardsDanny Shafar

Hello,
A "Not a Member" link was clicked in an email to request that Danny Shafar be moved to Former Member status in the website for club 613630, Maccabi Toastmasters Club.
If you clicked that link, then please also click the following link to confirm that your status should really be changed to Former Member status in the website: 613630.toastmastersclubs.org/?action=Not...00090097&confirmed=Y If you did not click that link, then please just ignore or delete this email. (You may also want to discuss disabling the "Not a Member" links with your club website admin or discourage your members from forwarding emails.)Note that this only affects your status in the club 613630 website. It does *not* affect your status with Toastmasters International--that is separate and different.>>> We apologize for requiring this extra step--it has become necessary due to problems caused by people clicking the "Not a Member" link in emails forwarded to them (not originally sent to them).Thank you for all that you have accomplished in Toastmasters and all that you have contributed to your club! The FreeToastHost Administration Team

You should figure out if anyone in your club (or former member w/ admin password access) has IP address 175.39.113.103 .

Thanks Steve,
Appreciate all the follow up, but the question is what should we do now? I have no idea who has the IP address: 175.39.113.103. The Club Member we have removed, had a gmail email account. Interestingly, you might have heard that, Optus, the second largest Telco in Australia recently had a major data breach which resulted in 9.8 million customers email accounts and personal ID information being hacked. So could this be a result of some hacker with an Optus email domain? Should we just change our Admin password again or just monitor the situation for the time being?
Cheers

Forgot to mention that, no I am not just forwarding any emails from FTH, so I doubt that's a cause in this case.
PS I am happy for you to make all these posts private if that's possible. Thank you
