There always has been a character limit due to the database configuration.
However, no one was getting warned about it previously, so it was likely that some people were losing data.
I added the warning to give people fair warning and prevent data loss. It does not matter what the limit is, due to the db config, there will always be a limit at some point.
I may be persuaded to change the database configuration to up the storage for webpages. (I could bump it to store 16,777,212 characters per page.) However, I also really don't want to just give people license to make endless webpages that nobody reads.
You can always spread your content over multiple web pages, which is actually preferable.
So... Can you give me a compelling reason why you need to create/store really long webpages? Who would be reading them?
