DNS Direction - what is domain.ext mean?

Hi,

I've read the instructions to be able to create a members@adelaidecity.org.au group email instead of the FreeToastHost toastmasters email address.

In the instructions it says to ask for a DNS Redirection from the Domain supplier as follows:

Record Type Entry IP Address/URL

A domain.ext 50.19.253.65
A www.domain.ext 50.19.253.65
A mail.domain.ext 50.19.253.65
MX 10 mail.domain.ext

Does the domain.ext refer to the toastmaster website address, e.g. 1078222@toastmastersclubs.org or does it refer to domain bought name, e.g. adelaidecity.org.au

The reason why I ask is because I used our bought domain name for domain.ext and the domain support people replied saying they can't apply these rules because there is already an existing direction to the 1078222@toastmastersclub.org address.

I'm confused - could someone please help?

The domain support people are giving you bad information.

Review viewdns.info/dnsrecord/?domain=adelaidecity.org.au

Replace domain.ext in the docs w/ adelaidecity.org.au for your purposes.

Modify your DNS records as follows:

Delete the following A record:
A adelaidecity.org.au 119.81.10.57

Add the following A records:
A adelaidecity.org.au 50.19.253.65
A www.adelaidecity.org.au 50.19.253.65
A mail.adelaidecity.org.au 50.19.253.65

Thank you for your help. I sent the request as above to the domain provider. I added the custom domain name in the admin settings. I've now tried to create a members@adelaidecity.org.au email but this is the response I received...

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

members@adelaidecity.org.au

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain adelaidecity.org.au by mail.adelaidecity.org.au. [50.19.253.65].

The error that the other server returned was:
550 5.7.1 <members@adelaidecity.org.au>... Relaying denied. Proper authentication required.

The following A record must still be added to route email through our server:

A mail.adelaidecity.org.au 50.19.253.65

On a positive note, www.adelaidecity.org.au can now be navigated to in your browser... so some progress. ;)
