Thanks Brian! I thought WildWest Domains *might* be the Registrar, but wasn't certain. We'll make sure to figure this out!

Thanks again,

Hello Steve,

I finally got access into our DNS- YAY!!

Regarding the "A" Record this is what we want:

Type is A,
Host is "mail.choptm.org"
And Points to is "50.19.253.65"

Is this correct? When I enter it in, it says "The specified CNAME already exists in the zone."

We already do have an A record that has

Type is A,
Host "@"
Points to 50.19.253.65

I do not see a mail.choptm.org 3599 IN CNAME pop.secureserver.net to delete.

I *do* have all these other CNAMES:

CNAME calendar calendar.secureserver.net
CNAME email email.secureserver.net
CNAME fax fax.secureserver.net
CNAME files files.secureserver.net
CNAME ftp @ 1 Hour Edit
CNAME imap imap.secureserver.net
CNAME mail pop.secureserver.net
CNAME mobilemail mobilemail-v01.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net
CNAME pop pop.secureserver.net
CNAME smtp smtp.secureserver.net
CNAME www @
CNAME _domainconnect _domainconnect.ss.domaincontrol.com

What should I do?

Thanks bunches! Kimberly

You will have an A record for your main website so that you can navigate there.

The mail A record is treated like a subdomain of your main domain that is a destination for your email to be routed to.

So, yes you will have multiple A records. That is fine.

However, what I observed before was that you have a mail.choptm.org that is *incorrect*. In many cases, you cannot just revise it, you need to delete it and recreate it. (depends on your registar's DNS interface)

Depending on how your registrar allows you to edit your DNS, you may have to hunt a bit for the *existing* mail.choptm.org A record to delete it first. (hopefully not)

So, get rid of the existing bad mail.choptm.org A record and create the new correct mail.choptm.org A record.
