When a member moves to another club, are the records of his/her speech participation purged?
Thanks!

FTH records are club specific, they do not follow the member.

The manuals and the records at Toastmasters International do follow the member.

Are the records of an individual automatically purged at the club level then? Tks.

If you move the member to former member then the records are kept. If you delete the member then the records are purged.

Technically, if a member is deleted, all that really happens is that the member's identity is deleted. Any associated records in the db stay put... They have to because the agenda itself is the role history. We cannot purge history without destroying roles and agenda items. The converse is also true... if you delete agendas, role history goes away.

Because of this, what really happens if you delete a member is that you see past agendas where the system knows someone had the role but cannot determine who, so you see "(Former Member)" then.

The key distinction here is that "role history" is a fiction promoted by the design of FreeToastHost. All there really is are agenda records for various meeting dates that are associated to members via a member table record id. The role reports just present that information in a palatable way that makes it look like there is such a thing as a "role history". All you really seeing are "repackaged" agenda records in the report.

Thank you, Steve.

I understand the concept of tables, indexes and views, etc, as found in a DB. That makes perfect sense to me.

Q: What would be the question to ask of a former club so someone could obtain those records without too much confusion?

Thanks again.
